Chair of the Board of Directors, Hon. Eng. James Rege
He is the MP for Karachuonyo.Hon. Rege has over 27 years experience in Telecommunications with highlights of his career being his stints as the Pioneer Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communications, Kenya.He is the founding Managing Director and Shareholder of Vodacom Tanzania Ltd and director of Iridium Africa, South Africa.Known as e-Mheshimiwa in some quarters, he has a strong belief in the freedom and accessibility of information as well as e-Governance. He understands the importance of ICTs and the Internet as a catalyst to change and has set up 6 fully equipped Community Knowledge Centres at Karachuonyo in partnership with CISCO.
Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, Dr.Vinand Nantulya
Dr. Vinand Nantulya is a research scientist with experience in the field of vaccine development, basic immunology and international health. He is the executive Chairman of the Uganda Aids Commission (UAC) charged with the task of leading the coordination of Uganda’s HIV/AIDS response and where he encourages the Government of Uganda to develop self-financing and self-sustenance systems to respond to the HIV and AIDS Pandemic.He is also an entrepreneur; Founder and Managing Director of Brentec Investments (a livestock vaccines manufacturing enterprise) and a CEO of Astel Diagnostics, a company that manufactures laboratory diagnostic test kits.
Treasurer of the Board of Directors, Dr.James Boyd McFie
Dr. Mcfie has a PHD in Accounting, University of Strathclyde and M.A (Mathematics), Oxford University. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.He is a lecturer in Management Accounting and Financial Reporting and Analysis.
Dr. McFie has exemplary industry experience and has been a Training Manager, Ernst and Young and a member of Education and Training Committee, Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Kenya. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Capital Markets Authority and a Trustee at the Centre for Corporate Governance.
Vice Treasurer of the Board of Directors, Ms Stephanie Karangwa Nduba
Ms. Stephanie Nduba is a founder member of AfriAfya. She has a Master in Public Health and the first degree in Nutrition as well as certificates in research, monitoring and evaluation, distance education development and disaster management. Stephanie has over 30 years of experience in management and training with AMREF and the Ministry of Health. During her tenure in AMREF she established training needs of health workers, developed and implemented various courses in collaboration with the Nursing Council of Kenya. She helped in compiling a manual on home-based care with 6 modules addressing nursing and clinical care, counseling and psycho-spiritual care, palliative care and training skills.
Member of the Board of Directors, Dr.Fred Bukachi
Dr. Fred Bukachi has Ph.D in Cardiology from Umeå University, Sweden and is currently a Lecturer Department of Medical Physiology, College of Health Sciences and University of Nairobi. His current Interests include ventricular and Atrial Function in Normal Ageing and in Chronic Heart Disease, Cardiac Electrophysiology, Cardiac Ultrasound and Imaging Techniques and Exercise Physiology. Dr. Bukachi is also the Africa Field Liaison Officer for the Millennium Villages Project (MVP), the Earth Institute at Columbia University, New York, USA, an innovative model for helping rural African communities lift themselves out of extreme poverty.
